Rally Portugal 2017. WRC Trophy: Plus two
    17.05.2017

During the previous five rounds of World Rally Championship only two crews more contended for WRC Trophy with the duo of Eurolamp WRT. Moreover in Monte Carlo and Mexico only two crews took place on the rallies, and in France – no one. But in Portugal three contenders for the Trophy will fight on the rally at once.

Except Valery Gorban and Sergey Larens, on Rally Portugal in WRC Trophy category Czech crew of Martin Prokop and Jan Tománek and French crew of Jean-Michel Raoux and Thomas Escartefigue will be presented. Three different crews on three different cars (Mini JCW WRC, Ford Fiesta RS WRC и Citroen DS3 WRC, respectively) – it is full storyline of Portuguese round of WRC. And there are a lot of reasons to believe that that storyline will be very interesting. In any way, the duo of Ukrainian team is looking forward to the rally.

«As for any other crew, for us, the more contenders take place in a rally the better. It means to have more motivation, more responsibility. When there is a real rivalry on a track it is more interesting both to fight and to see this fighting», — noted Valery Gorban, the leader of Eurolamp WRT.

«Furthermore there is another stimulus for us. Unfortunately, Rally Argentina was unpleasant both for us and for our fans. We were forced to brake the rally because of technical issue. So we are very determined for good result before Rally Portugal!»

Valery Gorban and Sergey Larens backed their fighting spirit up by the training which took part a few days ago in Portugal. During two days the Ukrainian team worked near Fafe city and was able to simulate soft and digged surface of the roads of North parts of Portugal, where the rally will take part, and to check a lot of suspension set-ups to find the best ones. Totally the crew overcame more than 130 kilometers of «special stages» during the training.

Rally Portugal will take place from Thursday, May 18, to Sunday, May 21. The participants of Portuguese round will overcome 350 kilometers of 19 special stages.
