In the late evening on Thursday, March 03, third World Rally Championship race – Rally Guanajuato M?xico – had started. The first Mexican race day program included two spectator special stages – Street SSS in Guanajuato and twin heat on Autodromo Le?n track of Le?n city.

In all, the participants of the race overcame rather more than 5 kilometers (1.09 + 2×2.3 km). A few passes 5.5-kilometer rout of morning shakedown could be also added to total distance of the day.

Such short days are usually considered as a warm-up days for the crews and for spectators. So no one generally wait from the warm-up any surprises. But one surprise lain in wait for Eurolamp WRT.

In the morning MINI Cooper WRC of Valery Gorban and Vladimir Korsia had suffered from fuel pump that awakened driver, co-driver and, of course, fans to worry. And only team’s technical staff didn’t worry. The mechanics identified the problem, cleared one and returned repaired car to the crew. And they did it very quickly.

«In comparison with last year, the route has no changes in actual fact. The route is the same hard and dangerous — with rocks on unexpected places, with plenty of narrow and insidious sections, with mass of speedy strips. The race conditions didn’t become easier — the same intolerable heat and wearing highlands. So, as last year, we expect that it will be severe trial — from the start of the race and to the finish. And we hope to crack it completely!» — said Vladimir Korsia, Eurolamp WRT co-driver.
