Polish stage of World Rally Championship is a special race for Eurolamp WRT. In 2009, when the team had the name Ascania Racing Team, just in Poland Valery Gorban, the leader of Ukrainian squad, for the first time took part to WRC race. And he finished on the podium!

Total length of special stages and road sections of Rally Poland 2009, complication of the race route and high level of competitive – all this was something unattainable in comparison with the plain conditions in which the team had to fight earlier at the national level. As a result, the race was very hard, first of all – in terms of physical exertion. Moreover, the situations which happened on the route made the race only harder.

At one of the special stages Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX of Valery Gorban and his co-driver Yevgeniy Leonov nearly hit some rival’s car which had stuck in deep rut. After that there was a nervous moment because of engine began to run rough. Moreover, there was a moment when the car ran out off the night rain soaked road and hit a stone or something hard else – fortunately without fatal damages. But the crew was in Top-5 of N4 category at the most of special stages and after first half of the race took 3rd position which was held to the finish.
