    Finals on the Island
    08.10.2018

Eurolamp World Rally Team is going to start its October tour with a visit to the island of Saaremaa. Crew of Valery Gorban and Sergei Larens will take its marks at Saaremaa Rally to be held from October 12 to October 13 on the same-name island.

Saaremaa Rally has a very long history, and this year it will be held for the 51st time. It is a flagship event not only for Estonia, but also for many neighboring countries. More than 135 crews come to participate in the rally, but only two of them will bring world-class vehicles. Mini JCW WRC will be in the livery of Ukrainian Eurolamp World Rally Team, while Estonian OT Racing will drive Ford Fiesta WRC.

Taking into account the season when the island race is held, sometimes the weather doesn’t cooperate with participants and instead causes such troubles as fog or heavy rain. As such, the crews driving lower-class vehicles, like R5 and Proto, may also join the battle of favorites.

Only two crews will compete for the title of absolute champion of Estonian rally. Ranno Bundsen’s crew is going to face-off Valery Gorban and Sergei Larens.

Despite of the fact that the Ukrainian-Estonian duet missed the second-to-last stage, the number of its credit points is way more. An advantage in 45 points is quite significant, although Saaremaa Rally will, for sure, not be just a walk in the park for Eurolamp World Rally Team.

Two-day race is divided into 11 special stages.

Saaremaa Rally opening ceremony takes place on Friday evening, October 12. Race on three special stages is also planned for the same day.

On Saturday, October 13, the crews will start their fight since the very morning. There are 8 special stages to drive on the second day. During two days of the race the crews have to cover 132 km of speed sections and almost 429 km of road sections.
