The third day of Rally Finland brought some really great news for Eurolamp WRT team but soon they were replaced with bad luck.

During the first part of Saturday Ukrainians were fast and stable enough to take the 6th position in WRC 2. But they met the puncture and broken brakes in the very beginning of the second round of the day and unfortunately it caused restart of our crew again.

Saturday wasn’t an easy day for Ukrainian rally fans – Ukrainian representatives were four but during that day they stayed only two crews. That’s why Gorban and Korsya got the biggest portion of spectators’ attention – they were fastest Ukrainian crew for that moment. And indeed, Saturday morning was really successful for Eurolamp WRT crew. First, Gorban began with the 7th time, and after he “shot out” in three special stages with the fifth time. Besides that our crew got unexpected improvement of his position – Sebastian Chardonnet was out and thereby Gorban moved one position higher. So the first round of Saturday finished with the 6th position for Ukrainian driver.

Unfortunately that was the last lucky moment for Ukrainian team – at SS20 Gorban got puncture and damaged brakes. He lost more than 19 minutes and left the race. Classical fast and challenging roads of Rally Finland became dangerous for wheel and tires this year – rocks and stones appeared exactly at the turns, so lot of drivers met punctures and damages. That was the bad luck for Valery Gorban too. Finally the team decided to restart on Sunday.

Sunday is the shortest day of the rally, so crews are going to have only short distance to finish the race. Of course, it’s not enough to change the situation in the WRC 2 table, but our crew will finish Sunday under Rally2 regulations.
