Wales Rally GB. To get and to loose
    15.11.2014

Valery Gorban and Vladimir Korsia had the tough Saturday – the second day brought some contradictory results for Eurolamp WRT.

After all nine stages of Saturday were completed Ukrainian crew got the 7th position in the WRC 2. But 100 penalty seconds for the late entry to SS15 added more time to the Valery’s Gorban and Vladimir’s Korsia day results.

There were some pleasant moments for the participants of Wales Rally GB – it wasn’t raining during Saturday, and the temperature got slightly above 12 C. Unfortunately it didn’t helped a lot with mud and water on the road – special stages stayed dirty, slippery and dangerous as well. The first section was quite good for Valery Gorban: no impressive “flat-outs” up to Top 3 in WRC 2 but stable enough to keep the pace. The best result of Saturday was the fifth time at the final special stage of the day, SS17. The live timing showed us the 7th position for Valery Gorban but it wasn’t the end of the story… Not yet.

The day wasn’t smooth at all – at SS14, the first one in the second section, the rear suspension was broken and the crew had to replace it immediately. It took too much time and finally caused the lat arrival to the SS15: ten minutes of delay turned into impressive 100 seconds of penalty. “It was the tough day; – said Valeriy Gorban – we were looking for fast and safe pace all the day and I’m not sure that we succeed. But the most important thing – we’re keeping going, our goal is the finish line”. Let’s wait for Sunday – and its six stages.
