Last year Eurolamp World Rally Team missed Rally de España. But the year before, in 2014 season…

2014 season was the best World Rally Championship season for Ukrainian squad in its history. The team occupied 3rd place in WRC2 category. And Spanish race was one of the best races of that year, due to performance of Valery Gorban and Vladimir Korsia. The crew finished at 6th position of WRC classification. Better result was only on Rally Poland, when the duo of Eurolamp WRT finished just one step from the podium.

By the way, on Rally de España Valery Gorban and Vladimir Korsia could repeat their Polish result at least, or even  be 3rd on the podium. At any rate, the crew held down 3rd position in intermediate classification after SS3, having 2nd result on SS2. Unfortunately all hopes were destroyed by accident on SS4. After hitting on a stone the car’s suspension was broken, so the crew was forced to retire and to return to the race only next day.

15-minutes penalty for the missed special stages of Friday destroyed any chances to fight for the podium. Not making mistakes, to achieve 3rd result at one of the stages (SS13 – the last Saturday stage) and to be at the finish of the race – that was all that Valery Gorban and Vladimir Korsia could do in existing circumstances. The Eurolamp WRT crew occupied 6th row in the race result list – in 9 minutes to 4th row and in 17 minutes to 3rd row.
