    13.03.2017

On the Power Stage Kris Meeke shown one more proof that it was strongly important to keep full concentration until the finish of every rally when he was very close to loose his win of Rally Mexico. Not to have any unforced mistakes was the main goal of Eurolamp WRT’s crew on Sunday.

Valery Gorban and Sergey Larens overcame last two special stages of Rally Mexico – 33-kilometers La Calera and 22-kilometers Power Stage  Derramadero — with 15th and 13th results respectively. On the final rally classification the duo of Ukrainian team kept 13th position.

«Before Sunday part of the rally we had such position in intermediate classification that there wasn’t any chance to catch someone and overtake them. On other hand there wasn’t any threat behind us. So our main goal for the final day of the rally was to be accurate and reliable on the roads and to be at the finish for sure. And we did it…» – said Valery Gorban, Eurolamp WRT driver.

For Sergey Larens current event was his debut on Rally Mexico. So he had very hard burden of responsibility for outcome of the final day and the rally in general. Taking this into account the Eurolamp WRT co-driver was very exhausted after the finish but very happy.

«I had other imaginations about Mexican rally. I thought that the weather would have been dry and hot and the rally roads would have been wide, smooth and speedy. But in a fact we had rain every day and the rally roads were very narrow, slow and with a lot of stones… Moreover the organizers did their best to make the crew’s life more difficult. So I can say that it was my hardest rally in my carrier…» – remarked Sergey Larens.

The next time Eurolamp World Rally Team will appear in World Rally Championship on Rally Argentina. Argentinian event will take place at the end of April.
