    Rally Portugal. Slow morning again…
    21.05.2017

Saturday’s scenario of fighting in WRC Trophy category was similar to Friday’s one. On morning section Martin Procop was able to run easily away from Valery Gorban again, and in the afternoon Ukrainian was closer to Czech again. But there were some different reasons of the morning lags of the crew of Eurolamp WRT.

According to Valery Gorban, on Friday morning the team had some experiment with car’s set-ups. «On Friday morning we had overdone with set-ups of the car, so we were forced to fight with strongly pronounced oversteer.  As a result we had swings on every morning stages, moreover on one of stages it happened twice.  And only after service, when we made normal set-ups, we could run with good pace», — said Valery Gorban, Eurolamp WRT driver.

On Saturday the duo of Ukrainian team was opening the line of cars on the special stages and was taking on the role of roads cleaner. And it influenced their pace. «On morning stages it was very slippery. And we felt it stronger than others because we were the first crew on stages. But during afternoon section, when the roads were cleared, we could increase our speed seriously», — told Sergey Larens, Eurolamp WRT co-driver.

Like the day before, on Saturday in the afternoon Valery Gorban and Sergey Larens could be not only closer to Martin Prokop and Jan Tománek but also win from them one SS – 22-kilometers  Cabeceiras de Basto.

Before the final day of Rally Portugal the crew of Procop was the leader of WRC Trophy intermediate classification with 7 minutes gap. Meanwhile Valery Gorban and Sergey Larens were in 8 and half minutes ahead of  Jean-Michel Raoux and Thomas Escartefigue. The participants had to overcome 43 kilometers more to reach the finish of the rally.
