It won’t be an exaggeration if we say that the main forecast of Rally Poland is a weather forecast. Forecasters promise heavy rain during the rally. And on Thursday everybody had chance to make certain that the forecasters’ prediction was true.

In the afternoon heavy rainstorm swept over Mikolajki, therefore the organizers were forced to cancel the rally opening ceremony. The podium, all constructions around it and decorations of the city’s main plaza were destroyed by the storm. Fortunately, the sporting part of the day wasn’t a victim of the weather. Both the shakedown and the evening super special stage, which has opened the race, took place under clear sky.

“On the rally distance there are a few gravel places, which can be damaged by rain. Mainly, surface of the rally roads is enough waterproof and dry quickly. It will be another pair of shoes if we have to drive under the rain, when the road conditions can be different from one kilometer to another . In this case situation will be more difficult to us. But we hope to avoid this problems…” – said Sergey Larens, Eurolamp WRT co-driver.

During the shakedown Ukrainian teams’ crew made 5 attempts, the best of which let the duo to be 18th in shakedown rating table.. After the evening super special stage Valerii Gorban and Sergey Larens occupied 21th row of the intermediate rally list results.

On Friday the crews will have to overcome more than110 kilometers of special stages and almost 470 kilometers of road sections. Moreover forecasters are expecting very rainy Friday…
