    Consolidation of Positions
    16.07.2018

The first main day of Rally Estonia was very eventful. Winners and medalists of the fourth round of the Latvian Championship were defined at the race finish. Ukrainian team achieved its minimal goal – to win the Latvian standings.

After that, the fight was waged only for the victory in the Estonian rally Championship.
On the second day of the race, only five special stages had to be overcome.
Eurolamp WRT’s aim was to improve its positions in the overall standings. The team was only eleven seconds behind its main rival in the Estonian Championship.
Crews of the factory teams competed in their own league, and, therefore, the fight for the top-3 was waged separately.

After the problems faced by Valery Gorban on Saturday, he started the day on the eighth position. The seventh-placed Rainer Aus on his Polo Proto was outdriven already during the morning rally course. Still, at the next special stage the Estonian got a flat tire, Valery Gorban bumped into his rivals and lost a good deal of time. As a result, he was ahead of Aus, but significantly behind Georg Gross.

Crews’ positions have not changed to the very finish of Rally Estonia. Valery Gorban and Sergei Larens retained their seventh place in the race and leadership in the overall standings of the Estonian Championship.

Toyota, Citroen and Hyundai crews hold the first three places in overall standings.

The race, being tough all the way through, was not exactly what Eurolamp WRT wanted. Nevertheless, it made the finish, got important scores and preserved the leadership in the Latvian and Estonian Rally Championships.
